A French chef is traveling to UWEC next week, bringing authentic international cuisine and
giving UWEC students a slice of another culture.
Edouard Becker will cook dinner for students Oct. 6
from 4-9 p.m. at Riverview Cafe East at the Hilltop Center, and he’ll cook
lunch Oct. 7 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at The Dulany Inn at Davies Center.
He’s from the Alsace region of France that borders Germany, so most of what
he’s cooking is German, including sauerbraten, cod on sauerkraut, German
pancakes with brandied cherries and German potato salad with cucumbers. He’ll
also provide active demonstrations of meal preparation for students.
Part of Sodexo’s Global Chef program, Becker arrives in Milwaukee on Oct. 1, and he’ll cook at Marquette University on Oct. 5 before coming to UWEC. He’ll also cook at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire on Oct. 8-9, and he’ll cook at six other locations in Illinois and Michigan prior to his Oct. 31 departure.
