Blugold Dining collected 3,087 pounds of food and
$1,184 in cash from UWEC students, faculty and
staff on Nov. 17 during its Helping Hands Across America food drive at Davies Center.
The food and cash has been donated to Feed My People Food Bank in Eau Claire, benefiting senior citizens, single parents, the
working poor, the homeless, the mentally ill and others across the Chippewa
Valley. More than 14,500 people each month – 38 percent of them children – rely
on food from Feed My People programs. The past nine years, the Helping Hands
Across America food drive has produced 32,443 pounds of food and $3,455 in cash
for Feed My People.
Seven groups at UWEC partook in Blugold Dining’s
group challenge for the food drive, combining for 237 pounds of food and $424
in cash. The accounting and finance department again collected the most food
and cash per person, winning $150 in catering from Blugold Dining.
